What to Expect at Your Chiropractic First Visit
First Visit - Day 1
Initial Paperwork: Your new patient paperwork will be emailed to you in advance so you can complete it before your visit. This gives your doctor time to review your health history and concerns and prepare for your consultation. If needed, you may complete your paperwork at the clinic by arriving early enough for it to be reviewed before your appointment.
Consultation: During your chiropractic first visit, your doctor will sit down with you to review your history, discuss your needs, and determine NUCCA care is appropriate for you.
Exam: A thorough orthopedic and neurologic examination will be completed. You are not rushed through this exam; time is taken to ensure the doctor understands your needs and that nothing is missed.
X-rays: If necessary, a series of spinal X-rays will be taken to help calculate the precise misalignment of your spine. After your first visit, the doctor will study, analyze, and compile your information in preparation for your spinal adjustment.
Your first visit takes approximately 1 hour to complete.
Second Visit - Day 2
Report of Findings: During your chiropractic first visit, the doctor will have analyzed any X-rays and completed a comprehensive review of the exam information gathered. The doctor will discuss the findings with you, ensuring that all your questions and concerns are addressed during this report.
X-rays: If a misalignment in your spine was detected, the X-rays enable the doctor to ascertain the precise degree of your misalignment. This information is crucial for effectively implementing NUCCA care to correct your spine.
First Adjustment: All spinal adjustments are performed by hand, starting from the top bone of your spine to align your entire spine properly. There is NO twisting, cracking, or popping involved. During the spinal adjustment, you will experience very light pressure, similar to but slightly heavier than the sensation of taking a pulse. This gentle pressure is applied in a specific direction tailored to your individual misalignment, repositioning your spinal structures accurately.
Post X-ray: Two post X-rays are taken immediately following your first spinal adjustment to ensure that the correction was made as intended.
Moving Forward
At your first follow-up visit, your doctor will check in on how you've been feeling and what you've noticed since your first adjustment. This gives us an opportunity to evaluate how your body has responded and discuss any changes you've experienced.
Your doctor will then explain what care looks like moving forward and provide a personalized care plan based on your examination findings, your response to care, and your individual health goals.
